IMPRESSIVE EFFORT
Glare Finished Strongly (By Cable.— Prom ."N.Z. Truth's" / Special Melbourne Rep.) Glare, which was recently purchased by the Caulfield trainer Jim Truskett, ran a great race m the mile weight-fpr-age Underwood Stakes at Williamstown on Saturday. TT was his first appearance m Melbourne and he looked a bit on the burly side.* .He wore crepe bandages on both forelegs. He was ridden by the trainer's son George, who is better known as a hurdle jockey than a /flat rider. Glare could not go the pace set early, and for the first half-mile was second to last. After that he came home well, and at the finish he was doing, better than any of the others and was only four lengths behind the placed, horses. . The track with its sharp bends did not suit him, and as he is a long way from being fully wound up it was a rather impressive performance. It has drawn marked attention to his chances m the two Cups, for wliich he will now seriously be taken into consideration. iiiMiMiiiiniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiniiiiMiiimiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiMiiniiniiiiiiiiiivni
