MIDDLE CLASS FIELD

May Be Easy One For Lydia

(By "The Toff. ") Denver City, Nelsonian, Salient, El Direct and Sandy Pojnter figure m the Middle Class Handicap as well as the Railway Handicap at Wellington on Saturday. MELSONIAN won over two miles m 1 ' mud at Westport, but El Direct, Salient and Sandy Pointer may prefer a lesser journey. Chimer, on 12yds., has been a ljig disappointment that is apt to clean up the tote any day. At Petone he wilJ have a tough mare to beat m Lydia. She is on 4.44 m a 4.45 class, and judged by the manner she stayed on at the end, of a two-mile event at Forbury she should see out two miles pretty well. Kelp on 24yds. and Hostess on 72yds. are useful customers, but ' when all is over Lydia, Denver's Doll, and Kelp may go best. The last race on the card is the Electric Handicap, to be run over a mile and a-quarter. It is a 2.50 class. T*he front- markers, Eugene de Oro, Halmore and Hostess, are pretty smart over a short journey; so are Sir Author, Logan Princess, Warepa, WracKeen, Sonoma and Zella. 1 Wilma Dillon from 36yds. may be dangerous, otherwise Wrackeen, Eugene de Oro and Hostess may be very troublesome.
