Useful King's Guard
(From "N.Z. Truth's" South Auckland Rep.) AFTER King's Guard had won m Highweight company at Takapuna, the handicapper decided not to penalise him m the Matamata Cup. But there was a protest from the connections of Luminary, which horse had been advanced 71bs. after his defeat of King's Guard on opening: day. at the Shore. Luminary was withdrawn from Matamata engagements, but King's Guard lined up for the Cup and won handsomely. Dick Hannon's galloper is now on the £2000 mark with stake earnings this season. There will be more races on the flat for the hardy son of Quin Abbey, which will later have further cards to play m hurdle and steeplechase events.
