FOR WINGATUI
Nightmarch Goes On To Randtoick (From "N.Z. Truth's" Christchurch Rep.) Nightmarch, the Melbourne Cup winner, is definitely to make his reappearance on the turf m New Zealand at Wingatui next week when he will contest the James Hazlett Gold Cup on the second day of the Dunediq J.C. meeting. THE ' colt has not had a very ■*■ strenuous time since he returned from Australia, and up till a week or so ago looked a bit on the burly side. Lately, however, he has had more fast work over short journeys, but it is doubtful if he can be wound up m time to be at the very top. of his form by next week. His connections . are adopting the right policy as they are concentrating on the A. J.C. autumn carnival, and Nightmarch will be required to reach the peak of his form when he steps out at Randwick. The field for the Hazlett Gold Cup at present numbers 22 and it is certain that the Melbourne Cup winner will frighterithe best part of them out of it. *• On the other hand, there will be some owners, remembering the experience of Limerick, m the same race last year, when Aussie caught him half well, who will take the Nightraid colt on. Nightmarch unquestionably, will 'be a big draw as Dunedin and Southland people have not seen anything of him since he won the Dunedin Cup last year. . Since then his deeds both m New Zealand and Australia have made him an outstanding performer of the turf. • • ■' ' , Nightmarch will probably leave for Australia early m March. > Roy Reed will -again pilot him m all his engagements, including . the Gold. Cup at, Dunedin. '
