The Dunedin Jockey Club's ■ policy of including a mile and aquarter hack race on its programmes has met with a good deal oosf s success,.. -and the extra money attached, to the stake has been thoroughly justified. 1 J7ROM a racegoer's point of view the V race provides just as good a spectacle as an open handicap. Really outstanding hacks are few and far between, and the class of the field is very much on a level. There is every prospect of next week's race being the best hack race yefrun on the course, with. Tembroney> Assemble, Salmo Salar, Waterline, Starshooter, Impertinence, Marsham, Sailing; Home, . Ranelagh, Dumblane and The Viscount among those engaged. On holiday form,- Salmo Salar, a solid, improving -hack from Jim Ruttledge's stable, and Dumblane will appeal. Marsham and Starshooter are the best pi the Riocorton nominees.
