Brutus Proves Cheap Proposition (From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) YJJ7HEN it was reported that Brutus " had changed hands for thirteen guineas the majority thought him a back number. However, when it was seen that he stiil remained m R. A. McMillan's stable one or two were not inclined to pay too much attentibn to this alleged sale. Brutus m his next start came within an ace of victory at the A.T.C. summer meeting, but subsequently at the same fixture was not prominent. Last Saturday at Te Aroha the son of Hal Zolock was produced m the Cup and starting at a remunerative price came home with the goods. J ' With a mile to go hei was m fourth place behind ' Lord Nepean, Peter Pirate and Concertina. Nearing the lane for home he was on terms with Peter Pirate and appeared to win from that pacer with a little m hand. Hal Chimes was third and Mountain Dell, fourth. When horses are v sold for next to nothing up North little is heard about these transactions; but m the case of Brutus he received very near as much as Peter Bingen did when he put up a world's winning race record.
