Chryslers New Home THE main volume of the new Chrys--1 ler building m New York is fiftysix stories, including the tower, while the dome is twelve stories. In the spring of 1930 the new of the manufacturers of Chrysler cars will be completed. The steady advance of the steel structure, bringing into being a colossal lace network, is rapidly following the placing of concrete and steel foundations for the sixty-eight storey skyscraper.. The face of the building will be made of • blocks of Shastone granite, (Georgia marble being used as high as the fifth floor, and' from that point to the sixteenth floor and its cornice, there will be a basket weave pattern of marble and white-faced brick. Thence onwards to the top of the structure a special design of ■ brick w.ill be used m grey and black, the latter color being employed to accentuate the vertical . . lines of the building. A utilisation, of the automobile itself as a motif m the design of the Chrysler building m a frieze at the thirtieth storey, marks a : departure m modern architecture. In conventional-ised-design the whole profile, ;of a limousine, showing body lines, fenders and' wheels, will be depicted m sharply-contrasted white, gray and black brick. The hub caps on the wheels will be of aluminium, 14 inches m diameter. The frieze will terminate m a flnial at the four corners, where ten-foot-long Chrysler wings will stand out against the skies of Manhattan.
