New Handicapping System
'THERE was an interesting discussion on the Addington \training ) track last week between a number of trainers regarding the new systeni, of handicapping. It was started by one remarking: "If there was a really strong .man making adjustments, there would be no necessity for conditions ""and .systems." , t ' . This was met by opponents who stated that if a handicapper 1 framed* his 'adjustments exactly as he wished, without regard to time, he would soon find himself out of ' a job. Generally, the new system was favored -by those 'closely, associated with the sport ac a means towards, better things. Most of these* experts expressed the opinion that under the present new system not sufficient "attention was paid to the 'distances over which horses won. Agreement >vas also -arrived' 1 at that horses winning over .long distances were too leniently treated when next raced over short courses, whilst sprint winners got penalised too much when entered for two* mile events. All were on sound, ground regarding the necessity of giving the new -system a fair and impartial try«out, iiminiiiiiiiimiiuiiiiiimiiiiiiiiniiiiiiiiii iiiiliiiiiiiiihiiniiiiiiiiij iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiMiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit'ijiiiiiiiiii'llllll
