For the second time since his admission to hospital shortly after the tragic shooting of his wife on the St. Clair esplanade on the evening of August 7, William Henry Brauman has had to face the public m the city Police Court to answer a charge of having murdered Annabelle Dorothy Deans Brauman.

THERE was a crowded' gallery (a number of women gaining accommodation 'some time before 10 o'clock) when the accused, wearing a long, overcoat and with his left eyesocket heavily shaded, was ushered into the dock. .He .looked somewhat drawn about the face, and during the brief proceedings kept his face turned away from- the body of the court. y tHis ■ general demeanour and health appeared to have greatly improved since "his appearance m court' a week previously, when, obviously, he was still suffering- the strain of the severe bullet injury he inflicted upon himself immediately after his unfortunate wife toppled — fatally shot through the

head — over the esplanade railings ori to jagged rocks soriie feet below. Directly the .charge had been read out Chief -detective Cameron asked for.a remand of seven days, - and he intimated that"' he ' would then be quite ready to go on with ; the evidence. y Mr. C. J. li. "White, with him Mr. G. M. Lloyd, : who appeared on Brauriian's behalf, asked for the remand to be extended to two weeks owing to other urgent business. Mr. J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., consented to the case ■ being . set dowiv for Wednesday, September 11 Without a glance towards the crowd at the back of" the court," Brauman passed -through to the cells. A full report • of the resumed proceedings will appear ' m "N.Z. Truth."
