DRESS LOVE
TT is probable that' wbrneri nowadays •** spend far iri ore on their appearance than their mothers did. But why complain? There are surely few worthier "objects. It is so 'much' pleasanter to see pretty pictures about than to have to look at ugly realities. To make people who look at you think of lovely images is surely not to have wasted one's existence. • It has been said that women dressing to go out with women are like. a man going fishing, who takes his rifle along m case of a stray rabbit! . It is nicer to believe that -women do not dress especially for either sex, but just simply because it pleases them to ' be beautiful. The congenitally dowdy, woman often approaches her smarter sister from the moral standpoint. How absurd! It reminds one of the old adage on love: "Those, who can, do; those who can't, criticise." The present vogue for high lustre black : satin suits the siren type -.'.well: . ■ What a kick the schoolboy of to-day must get out of the youth and smartness of his rriother! He may love her just as dearly if she is dowdy, but the extra pleasure of being proud of hl3 mother's appearance must mean a lot to a sensitive boy, and if we are to believe Mr. Kipling, a little boy's sensitiveness goes a thousand tirries deeper than a, little girl's.
