THRILLING
Battle Royal For Minor Money
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) .. .The finish of the Dunedin Han-, dicap sprint at Ellerslie, with Pad-,: don and Gold Money fighting a spirited battle for second honors, was thrilling. DOTH had been assessed at even - poundage— lOst. 101 b. apiece— and with Flying Prince at the minimum out m front there was no time for loitering. Gold Money was up handiest to the leader most of the journey, but over the last furlong the pair came to close quarters and then it was a battle royal between them. /
It was a fight to the finish so far as 1 the minor place-fillers were concerned, with Tinker on Paddoh finally saving the. favorite's supporters their money. .- " . ■
It makes one wonder whether the severe battle between them Avill rob either of any energy m the future.
The battle was worth more than the minor place-money -the pair shared, but from the spectators viewpoint it was fair dinkum thrilling.
