Takanini Will Be In Picture

THIS much was made evident at the * • Pakuranga Hunt fixture when the Jamieson-Goldf\nch combination started off the new season by annexing the two minor hack events on the programme. . . ■•■ •

These were secured by the aid of Refresher and Sea Cob and great was the joy m the Takanini camp.

Refresher has always held the reputation of being the goods, and though it may have been a last minute thought to take on the severi-furlong Sylvia Park Handicap last Saturday, he did his job safely when not looking thoroughly wound up for the task.

The son of Tea Tray — Hula Girl is owned by George Glenn, a Wanganui steward. \

As for Sea Cob's victory m the Auckland Handicap, big Bill Montgomery's Quinn Abbey gelding' had shown winning form last season, and it was not surprising" to note a last minute rush of heavy cash to send him

up first favorite over Bizarro, which had claimed the honors during most of the totalisator operations.

J. T. Jamieson has a big string of horses m work out Takanini way, ahd .m hack and two-year-old races can be looked for to register his share of successes' as the season goes on.

His team can. also be depended upon to be dangerous m the open sprint class, while if Prince Humphrey conies back, t look out for some decent handicap.

J.T. leaves nothing to chance m the matter of horsemanship, and m continuing the servces of Harry Goldfinch he knows what he is about.
