HAVE THEIR DAY OUT
Followers of founts Have Meeting ; At N^v Plymouth
At the both ends of Taranaki hunting is a popular pastime, and on Saturday the North' Taranaki Club, after a good season, will finish its work with a race meeting.
MASTER BERT CHANEY and his henchmen can be .depended upon
to do the best for everyone; and the meeting finds general favor with the rest of the district. There is one thing about the hunting folk — they are clannish, and support one another.
Taranaki is a district that is badly served when it comes to*racing dates and the break m the long spell will be appreciated by a11...
The acceptances are good and if it were not the beginning, of the new season, with so many fresh horses coming m, the job ahead of those looking for prospective winners would be a little lighter. '.. The main event is, of course, the Hunt Club Cup and a- big endeavor will be made to keep it m the district. Odin is tne outsider which threatens trouble, 'but if Huirangi Girl wasy-right she would give him some bother. The pair may be left to battle it out. V
Haeremai was placed at Pakuranga last Saturday and may' give -most cheek m the Maiden Hunters' Steeple-, chase. The rest is comprised ' of a bunch that may or may. not be equal to the task.
The win of Democratic, m the Hungers' Hurdles at Ricearton will bring him big. support m the similar class race onV Saturday. San Ferayis short m the wind, but this distance should' be within him. >
There are three or four m the Opunake Scurry which will be fancied, but the chances of Liatakla, Black Odin and Annoyer are fancied most.
As far as people situated at a distance from the course are concerned the- event will be. left alone.
The hack seven is a poor class and the winner may 'be lucky to get -intp that class again.
The handicapper has assessed Singer and Monoloff as the best of the bunch and there may be something m following his opinion:
Dave Jackson has now won two on end with Calithe and the chestnut will be hard to head oft! m the Hunters' Flat Race.' Democratic and Quilfire are two that may be m the running.
Recent racing should stand to
Bonogne m the Stratford Handi-
cap and his condition should be a ' good enough recommendation.
Partaga is m fresh, but never forget his consistency.
Monoghan and Monsogne are possibilities, while Oration, though a "cheater," is always liable to bob up.
Bonogne and Partaga are expected to perform with credit.
Running earlier m the day will Influence betting m the Urenui Handicap.
Monoloff. and Black Odin will only have to live up to earlier expectations to claim most attention.
