KING OF THE BRIDGE

THE entrance to the harbor of Port Nicholson is not an easy one , to navigate, and were it not for the guiding hand of Harbormaster J. E. Dawson, skippers of large liners would be more anxious about it than they are when J.E.D. is on the bridge. Captain Dawson is one of the old school "of mariners. Pie served his apprenticeship m sail, and was at one time associated with that most famous clipper of them all, the "Cutty Sark." Captain Dawson has been ashore since 1898, m which year, he joined the Wellington Harbor Board.
