Ke.es,: a pantrymaid, aged 32, received stolen goods valued at £6/6/6. Kees, who appeared before Mr. J. S. Barton, S:M., inthe Wellington Police Court, admitted, through her counsel, Mr. O. ,G. Mazengarb, that she had received the goods from a man who was later to be charged with theft. -.'■ - ' The articles were brand.cd with the mark of an hotel, and were given her by the man who had stolen them. There could be. nothing but regret expressed m the case, said Mr. Mazengarb, but he had read that the Probation Officer was favorably disposed towards Kees, who was married, .but living apart from her husband and children. With the idea of giving 'Kees a chance to prove that she was worthy of leniency, the Magistrate admitted, her to probation for a period of two years.
