THE FEDERAL
(By "The Toff.") Wilma Dillon, which was making his first appearance at the meeting, easily accounted for the slow mile and a-qua"ter. LIE was not long m getting to the 1 * front and then stayed there. The winner not been long m Tomkinson's stable,, but. he has some smart performances to his credit m the south, chiefly- in sprint races. Wilma Dillon is equally at home m saddle or harness, and as he is only a young pacer looks capable: of a lot of improvement. > He is by -John Dillon and has a very easy action like his sire. There is' no. reason to doubt his •ability to race over two miles when thoroughly wound 'up for such an event. Zenith, which raced well m the twomile event on the first day, got second, and Dilworth, which was very lame, was third. Downcast did not race well, and Trimmer showed speed without going on with, it when wanted. Carmel was started m preference to the longer race, but although he .raced prominently he was a long way from the winner at the end.
