FINAL EVENT
(By "The Toff.") The final race of the meeting, the Farewell, ended m a runaway victory for Maiwhariti, which dashed along the back stretch and quickly had all the opposition m trouble. THE ex,-Dunedin pacer always posA sessed plenty of speed, but until Tomkinson got him he failed to control it cither "m saddle or m harness. The Addington mentor has the pacer going steadily, and m addition has raced him successfully .over two-mile courses. Maiwhariti may go on, to further successes, especially over short courses. Western King, which was coupled with Black Admiral, lost his chance by commencing too slowly. His stable-companion, on the other hand, went away very fast, but did not see out the journey. F. Holmes drove Bonny Logan oyer the last furlong so hard that she just got second m front of Jean McElwyn, which had raced solidly throughout the meeting. ' . Loganwood created a bit of surprise by racing so prominently, finishing up m fourth place. Golden Devon went well for half the distance, but he is not yet ready.
