WELL NAMED

(From "N.Z. Truth's" Christchurch Rep.) There is not a better-named horse racing m New Zealand to- . day than Courageous. A big handicap will come his way before long. LIE had all the worst of the running ** m the Islington Handicap at Ric--carton. He was a bit "toey" at the barrier and got away poorly. Then he was twice disappointed down the back and had to have another couple of pops before he got a run from the head of the straight. He was so far out of the picture down the running that half, a dozen runnel's were proclaimed before he came from the clouds, flew past everything, and got to within .a neck of Royal Game. It was one of the most impressive finishes at the meeting, and if "Snow"' Morris could have placed him better at the turn he would have. been a certainty. Royal Game was the unlucky horse m the Rrabazon Handicap and was not well served m the Winter Cup, but he made amends m the Islington - Like Courageous, he gave a very game display under pressure, and, for his size,, is as honest a horse as there is racing. ,
