At Menangle on Tuesday, Belcaire, trained by Jones and ridden by McCarten, won the three-year-., old handicap, after starting second favorite. • . ,_ ; TEA QUEEN, ridden by Roy Reed, was second. The stewards inquired into the running of Tea Queen. Her connections iwere exonerated, but stated that they were unsatisfied with Reed's handling. In the next race, the Menangel. mile, Jones produced Briar Root. He was backed for a fortune and started a redhot faVorite, but missed a place. In the three-year-old maiden event, Red Lion was unplaced. Joy King, ; South Wind, and Lucky One arrived by the "Maheno" after a good trip. Aussie galloped brilliantly on the track with Limerick as companion, covering six furlongs m 1.18. It was one of the best try-outs of the morning. Nightmarch, Pagenelli and Paquito also worked well.
