HOUNDS NOT NEEDED
Bay Hunting Fraternity Has Its Day Out
The bounds will not be needed at Hastings on Saturday and the "dorgs" can be left home at the kennels.
TT is the annual one-day meeting of A the Hawkes Bay Hunt ' Club and though the meeting is more or less a local one there are going to be quite fair fields. ' . The main race is, of course, the Hunt Cup, the winning of which causes the successful owner to expand his chest a few inches The race should be a good one. Engaged Vare many winners and some with late form. There is Alaric'which will fancy the slighter fences after Riccartori but h» may have his work cut out: to- hold Ponjola and Woden. This pair 5 ran well at Gisborne, and may fight out the finish. 'Rapine and Star Stranger are m the open six, but that will ) not cause a (stampede on the tote.- _ Kaiti has had the racing and he may win for the second year 'in succession, while Queen's Choice is not altogether out of it. The old. fellow, Sunart, is m the Hunters' Hurdles, and he will only need a little luck to take the big- end.
In Gisborne last month, Rakauponga had the form and he may be. capable of taking out m the Park Hurdles. . Royal Elm is back to hurdling and providing fie does not jump extravagantly he would be one to remember. Quite a number are making their reappeanace *m the Horonui Handicap and the want of a race will be against them. Thus it is reasonable to expect them to be neglected. • Last Mark, after that success at, Trentham will be m the market, and Bold Front runs into places without being. able to crack it for a win.
