Not "Semi "drunken Prank "

(From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Wellington llepresentative). .fOUNSEL practising m the Magistrates' Courts are allowed a certain amount of latitude m offering excuses for the offences committed by their respective clients, but it is surely stretching matters to describe as a "semi-drunken prank" the actions of a man who accosts a young girl m a lonely street, places his hand over her mouth and throws her to the ground.. In appearing for John O'Grady, a middle-aged man charged with assault on a young woman, Mr. J. D. Willis described the actions of his client as a semi-drunken prank. The young woman was walking along Rinto'ul Street towards her home, when a man of heavy build came up behind her, placed his hand over her mouth and threw her to the ground. Her screams brought people to her assistance and. the police were informed. Mr. E. Page, S.M., took a grave view of the case and sentenced O'Grady to six months' imprisonment with hard labor. iiiimimiMiiiiiimiimiiiiiininniiminiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiliiiimiimiiiiiiiiinn
