KHANDALL.AH is about to have the opportunity of extending the collective glad-hand to. a new vicar — the Yen. Archdeacon E. M. Cowie— late of the troubled Waikato diocese and formerly Vicar of Hamilton. Nineteen yeai's have slipped by since the Archdeacon first heard the pellucid Waikato purling its way seaward. He has seen Hamilton quadruple her population and the babes he christened develop into comely lassies and athletic striplings. v Although a stalwart churchman, the Archdeacon took a four-square view of mankind's problems. He was no recluse, but mingled freely with brother man, irrespective of creed and standing. He was/in fact, Welcome to hang; up his shovel hat on any old peg. His new parish includes the sister suburb of Ngaio. People of this district are proud of the new church, built thanks to the untiring energy of the late vicar, the Rev. Stent. If Archdeacon Cowie "is as well-beloved by his new parishioners as was their late vicar, then indeed will his task be made an easy one.
