WITH the usual anticipation of having a good time, Evelyn Maggie Duncan, and some girl friends were m attendance that evening and, after obtaining a- table they waited for their prospective partners from among the many -young "bloods" who were also present. Miss Duncan left her purse, containing a £1 note, -two ' sixpenny pieces and three or four pennies lying on the table' while she danced. As she;, was moving along the opposite end of the room she noticed a man named James Duffy, sitting at her table with another man named Cody, and the former seemed to be handling her purse. It appeared that' this man Cody „ who was, it was stated, drunk, had i been, attempting 1 to .have a dance with Miss Duncan but she had refused, and for that Cody threw an egg. flip over her, and she had to '.-■ retire for. the. 'time being. . • When she returned .■' her purse was under .the table, and when examined, Miss Duncan found that the money was missing.'
