CONSISTENT LINKMAN
Proved It In Queen Mary Handicap (By "The Toff"). Linkman, which is one of the most consistent pacers racing, was made favorite for the Queen Mary Handicap on Saturday. The con- ' test was a good one. ■ nESERT STAR and Maiwharlti were ttie early leaders, but Dilworth was soon after m the lead m a field that was racing m close order. When the real racing commenced, Linkman put m a fast run along the back and raced into a good position. He was close behind Dilworth into the' straight and came to the post full of running, winning: comfortably. Dilworth seemed a trifle lucky to beat Harvest Child for second place, as the latter actually headed the Nelsontrained mare near the post, only to be a trifle eased, and Dilworth' got the verdict : by the narrowest of margins. Maiwhariti, which went fast m patches, was fourth, just m front .of Glenelg, which went a fine race. Ariki, unbeatable at home, failed to go away, and Avenger was m no mood to race, mixing his gait continuously. Harvest Child will race better before the meeting is over, as he paced a fine race all the way without having any the best of the running. He finished so well that he should have got second money. Dilworth found the opposition solid throughout, but the Nelson mare paced a fine race, leading the field for the greater part of the race. . • . .
