AT PAKURANGA
Hunter With Some Prospects - (From "N.Z. Truth's" . Auckland Rep.) When Town Rambler was brought to Ellerslie to compete at the Great Northern meeting m June he was without much racing experience and also lacked the condition to reveal his best. TN a schooling effort before the meetA ing he was not at all impressive and seemed rather clumsy. ' Howevei\ a run over the country worked won-' ders and on the final day he finished third to King's Guard and Kauri Park m a two and a.- half mile steeplechase. He was certainly some lengths behind that pair, but his performance was highly creditable for a beginner. Every gallop seemed to be improving him and his fencing was better at each attempt. • Town Rambler has not bomo under notice m tne meantime, but he iias had time to improve and should be a fitter horse when he comes to race at the Pakuranga Hunt meeting this month. He is engaged m the Greenmount Hunters' Steeplechase and the Pakuranga Hunt Cup and possibly he may ta.ckle botn - races, which have been previously, won by the same horse. Town Rambler's prospects should be particularly rosy m the Greenmount Hunters' Steeplechase, a race for horses which have never won a. r.ace. of a.ny description. The class engaged is very weak. ~ .;•■•■ . \
