Kearney Is King's Medal Winner
THE crackle of rifle fire at Trenthami Military Camp which, for three 1 days, turned the location into an area reminiscent of a battlefield, has ceased. The meeting was the seventh annual held under the auspices of the New Zealand Army Rifle Association, and, from every aspect was a huge success. ' , . . . The 562 competitors who took part were composed of the crack shots of. the. Dominion, and a high standard was set m both, the rifle and machine-gun sections. . The important match of the meeting was for the Kings medal, which is fired for by the hundred highest scorers m the Army championshipYvent. .... ,V '„ Firing With consistent accuracy, Staff Sergeant-Major J. H. Kearney, of the Permanent Staff, who is stationed at. Napier, carried the ■ day with 155 points out of a possible 200. Kearney was also, second m the Army Championship. .... „M \ _ Commissioned Gunner A. H. Pryce (N.Z. division, R.N.) was second * with 153 points, and Artificer E. W. Jepson (N.Z.A.
