AT THAMES
Allowances Made by Handicapper
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) It is interesting to note that the handicapper for Thames has made some allowances for the fast times recorded at Waikato, . DEING well versed with the conditions ! P of the various tracks when at their best, he has framed the adjustments accordingly. . . However, some. owners consider that he could have been a little more I liberal when dealing with the N doings of winners and place-getters m the Thames Cup. •;-. • Torpedo Huon is let up a shade over two seconds on his Waikato Cup time, being now on 4.30. v When it is remembered that the big heat at Claudelands Avas a 4.36 class, and Torpedo was on 4.34, and also that the two miles at Parawai next week is 4.42, the handicapper has not been as liberal as many may be inclined to imagine. < Torpedo Huon, on his previous best Otahuhu time, gets a penalty of 4 1/5 sec,' for his Claudelands victory. Cornelian, first home at the same gathering, comes back m the handicaps five seconds, but is given the benefit of 2 3/5 seconds on the time she recorded. . Chief- interest centred about the handicapping of this pair, but m the case of Torpedo Huon lie has not been given a great deal of latitude. "'•'.,■ ' Trustworthy appears to get the worst of it when taking a line through An>eline's performances at Claudelands. ./■ L
