Looking Over Those Still Left In
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Hep.) A study of the lists reveals that there is still (promise of fair fields contesting the Ellerslie autumn classics. NO fewer than fifteen remain m the Great Northern Champagne Stakes, with a fair representation from outside the northern province, including Ceremony, Coon Song, Dresden -China, Clever, Hunting Cry, My Own, Gay Ballerina, Monalof and Duellona. The best of the local division are Eaglet and Supremacy, - and though Trentham p.nd Manawatu doinga may show that the cream of the visitors will have some reasonable claims, it is hard to come to any other conclusion than that Supremacy will prove more than a match for the opposition. Trainer Bill Stone informs "N.Z. Truth" that the Chief Ruler youngster will be found fit for the task if nothing unforeseen happens along m the meantime. So far as the Great Northern Oaks is concerned, it has often been attended with a surprise In the past. Looked at from all angles this year's fillies' classic , certainly looks within reasonable grasp of Prodice. Llanore arid Moutoa Treasury from the south may be expected to make a decent fight of it, while of the others Gold ' Money and Kaiwhanga will be among. northern hopes. | The Great Northern St. Leger still finds thirteen engaged, and. form displayed ( m "the North Island' St. .Leger at Trentham will be taken as a guide. It may bo that Concentrate will turn out better than Red Heckle over the fourteen-furlong trip, and that pair and Prodice are the most likely trio engaged.
