HIGH WEIGHT AND NURSERY

One Has Small Field, and The Other Is Too Big

As is usually the case the hack races have filled very well and backers will have much to contend with. i

THE High Weight has only eight acceptors, and there is only thirteen pounds between the top weight and. the bottom. . - Nucleus has shown out m the class on the course prior to this, but on equal terms, Vivo should hold her own. She ran a good race m the Hurdles the second day at Wanganul and would win with a repetition. Mister Gamp was unlucky not to win at the January meeting and he is m better condition now. Aberfeldy is coming along with racing . and will carry the south coin. Break o' Day has been winning, and so has Glena Bay, up north. The other two, Imarosebud and Elicit, are also victors m late times. The race presents quite a puzzle, the much of the muchness of the field being confusing. Perhaps Vivo and Aberfeldy may do best. In the Nursery there will be another 1 puzzle, and there is every chance of soniething turning up and paying the • limit. '■ Thirty- one paid up and to win .m • such a field more than an average run of luck is necessary. It is nearly a straight course and « they say that the draw does not mat-

ter a great deal, but that is all so much rubbish. Horses drawn off the course always get carted off into the trees when the course proper is reached, and the buffeting they receive does not help them. There is any amount of form to go on' and support can honestly be recommended for about ten of the runners, but, unfortunately, ten cannot figure as dividend-payers. Eaglet will have to be really good to win and she is passed by for First Money and Night Lad. Hunting Boy, Tea Queen and Equitant can all scamper, while Royal Parade won at Napier on Saturday. Luck of the draw will count for a lot and two which will not be altogether eclipsed, if they are well ' served are First Money and Night Lad.
