DOTARY, Rotary, Rotary. Rotarians thin and -tali, Rotarians stout and short, and Rotarians betwixt the two, but all true Rotarians, arid their wives have attended the seventh annual.conference which washgldin Christchurch. The first of the social gatherings was a "get together" at the Municipal Concert; Hall, and a friendly competition helped the visitors to become acquainted, as each member wore a ticket on his coat bearing his name and city. .Next' came. a garden party which was a huge success, held at the horrio; of Dr. and Mrs. Stanley Foster; Fapahui. Their home is a picturesque .-one 11 , arid it would be difficult to find a more pleasant spot or meeting ground for visitors .—indeed,': every; Rotary Club m New Zealand with one single exception,"-' was. represented. \ Next on -the list for the ladies was a reception by the members of the Canterbury Women's .Cl ub. the members of which , are always, ready to extend .the friendly hand of -welcome; There was a .record attendance;' both of club members and of .iti& ladies interested m Rotary.' Mrs. J. A. Flesher. welcomed 'the', visitors': to'- : the-, clpb- and expressed her own and the members' pleasure at the large number present. ■ In the evening thei local president, Mr. C; H. Hewlett, and Mrs. Hewlett,. 1 and | the vice-president, Mr. Edwin Hamilton, . and- Mrs. Hamilton entertained at a reception: held at.Baliaritynes. The three large tea; rooms -and the lounge were brought into use and certainly the . hosts and hostesses: spared no effort to make the evening a memorable one. Flowers m wide bowls, and crystal vases ,were decked with asters .-'-.•'• and lilies, ' and lounge chairs and chesterfield -couches were arranged m friendly fkshion.
