COLOR SCHEME
If you are sallow of skin — forgive that unpleasant word "sallow" — do not imperil whatever beauty .assets you may have, by wearing the colors that emphasise that sallowness. TF your heart hankers after a black ensemble — and what can be smarter? — use your eyes and discretion when yoU;plan how the frock will'be made. Take good advice, and see that you do not wear black right up to the neck, but have the dress so made that a collar and deep vest of some lighter shade will give relief. , . If these are of soft pink georgette the result will be quite satisfactory. A number of the latest designs. for black frocks show these collars and vests. The neck is cut square, the collar is laid quite flat at the back and sides, and the vest/square at the top, finishes almost at the natural waistline, m a wide V. at an angle of 45 degrees. Don't wear a black hat of heavylooking material. Far better to pin your faith m the 'summer to the large, shady and diaphanous black crinoline straw, Avhich is at least 50 per cent, more becoming, to your coloring, or lack of it. While dealing with clothes, we .must emphasise the value to sallow women of judicious cosmetics. A good rouge is an essential, and also is a suitable powder. A light' dab of the color will do much to brighten your skini and for powder choose one .of the deeper shades of cream. .- Avoid, as you would a plague of mice, white powders and pinks, for often the ■fairest skins look unhappy under these shades.
