LAST FOUR
The Cantab Cricket Finalists
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Christchurch Rep.) When Cromb, the Old Boys' skipper, won the toss and sent Riccarton to bat m the opening of the Christchurch semi-finals, he did so because Bill Merritt would not be available for the second day of the match. "THAT the decision was the correct one Bill proved by collecting six Riccarton wickets for 63 runs, maintaining his high average for the whole of the season. ■'■•"■ Allen, the Riccarton keeper, who won his way into the provincial side against Otago, knocked up another great score. '-..'■ Without his century, the whole Riccarton side scored 65 runs, and Old Boys look a certainty to be m the final. Riccarton have done some heavy hitting this season, but they failed m the crisis.; N. O. Alexander saved West Christchurch from feeling too sick by pasting all the Sydenham bowlers about for 97, and'the day closed with nine down for 237.
