HAS MORTGAGE

Awapuni Hurdle Successes

There must be something m the air at Awapuni that goes for the making of good hurdle-toppers. A HURDLE race anywhere on the southern circuit" of the North Island and Awapuni Is to the fore all the time. The course is doing a wonderful trot and when the winter "season comes along it ' should be, m the money all the time. Since the Levin meeting last November, Awapuni has( practically cleaned the programme. There Sunart won the Hurdles. Then came Ot^aki and Novar had to win both events. Feilding gave Elysianor his chance tb-win two. The two races at Woodvllle went to the stablemates, Elicit and Grand National, but at Awapuni there was a check. Red Bank won the first day, but Elyslanor could not beat Diana's Lad, from Trentham. At Marton, Elicit won the first day, but the track had, only the runner-up tho second day. At .Foxton, Hymestrason won, and at Ashhurst Elicit was again to the fore. Then at Hawera, Vexatious and Atarerla took the honors. New Plymouth was a dvd — the run was broken. Back to Wanganui x and Elicit was home first both days and then at Woodville, Locarno and Novar won. Out of twenty-two races •' Awapuni supplied the winner of seventeen, and, m three, had the runners-up.
