AT THE 'MEADOWS
Everything Points To Record Meeting
TOWN SUPPORT WANTED
The two Hawkes Bay Clubs — at Hastings and Greenmeadows Tr-have felt the bad times more than any other club m the country. The i slump knocked Hawkes Bay sideways.
ALL through the bad times the two' clubs have carried' on against a strong tide, and meeting after meeting resulted m a loss. The spending money not being available the tote fell to almost liero. At Greenmeadows the, crowd was thin and the fields thinner. But on Fi^day there should ,be a welcome change. Good nominations must result, m splendid acceptances and if Napier will only do its part the club will have its best meeting for years. It is quite a representative field m the Cup and it shows' what a wonderful difference a trophy makes. The Hawk will be one of the favorites. . He 'may repeat the performance, of his stablemate, Goshawk, which won -twelve i months ago. Tresham is m nice and handy and he won 'at "Blenheim, but after White Fang's Consolation Handicap form is analysed it points strongly, to^him. Backers will most likely fancy the chances of White Fang, The Hawk and Tresham. If Ridgemount is allowed to go to the post the money will be all for him. '■.... s
Holding this crowd should be qultd within his measure. "' The Hurdles will see the smallest field of the day and on recent form Panorama should go best. -Possessing the ability to stay _ on, Braeman, is given the opportunity of a lifetime. "" ." " - There is sure to be a weeding out ajt acceptance time m the Esk Handicap, but three that come to the fore are Bern era,-. Knightlike and Sylvan Dell. Te Awha won two races at Dannevirke m Tiice . style and they would do her good. She was on the green side] and the experience would stand to her. She is at the top of -the Sapling Stakes, giving three pounds to , Admiral Drake. Weight carriers m Singleton . and The Swell will be freely mentioned, when it comes time to bet m the Autumn Handicap., Few will venture past the pair. . -.-.-.- The Redclyffe Handicap is run over seven and at that distance Moprgaa just beat Grand Acre at Trentham. Break o' Day has struck a winning? vein and his new trainer <.has him well enough" to hold his own m this class*
