SEE TO THE CHOKE TROUBLE
]\^ODERN cars depend upon a choke mechanism to facilitate starting. > Usually the choke is brought into action by pulling out a button on the instrument-board. After the car has been m use for some time it frequently happens that something goes wrong with this equipment. Therefore, whenever hard starting is experienced, examine the choke mechanism carefully to be sure that pulling out the button brings the choke into full action. ' If not, make any obvious repairs or adjustments, or see your repair man. In some cases the choke works too well, providing the engine with too rich a mixture for 'easy starting. Therefore if the choke mechanism appears to be m good condition, try pulling it out part of the way instead, of all the way, decreasing the distance with rising atmospheric temperature, and pulling it out ail the way only m cold weather. If -the choke mechanism is defective pending its repair, starting may be facilitated by flooding the carburettor.
