HORSE-POWER
QUITE frequently m motor specifications two rates of horsepower are given, such as, for instance, 14/28 horsepower. This means that according to the R.A.C. ratjng (which is for taxation purposes) the horsepower is 14, and the maxjrnum power developed on brake test is 28. Malcolm Campbell's "Bluebird" m this way would be rated at 145/875, thus showing the extraordinary effi- . ciency of the modern engine when carried to its ultimate limit.
