Tom Metcalf Is Again InAfall Like the villain of the melodrama, Bad Luck still pursues the Awapuni horseman, Tom Metcalf. AT the beginning of December,; Tom sustained a fall 1 at Feilding that put him out of court till, the third week m January. He lost much valuable riding over the Christmas and New Year holiday period, one of his mounts being the smart youngster, Supremacy. Now, once again, Tom is m trouble. The second day at Wanganui he was messed up m a nasty fall, and he is lucky and unlucky. Lucky to be alive, and unlucky to be continually getting mixed up m smashes. The whole incident appeared to be brought about by the leacrer, Joy King. Going into the back, Reed checked his. mount, with the idea of slowing the field up, and those m behind were also compelled to take a hold. Avro, m the middle of the field, got on to the heels of something and went down m a heap. Metcalf was at the rear, and his mount, Hipo, went barging into Avro and shot- Tom out of the saddle.
