"Enquirer" (Chrlstchurch) : To starch semi-stiff collars uae boiled starch, into which has been added a little resin. Another method is to add a piece of soap to the starch and stir until it has thoroughly dissolved. Soap will not only give an excellent gloss, but will prevent the iron from sticking. "X.Y.Z.": To frost windows, dissolve some Epsom salts m hot water, and make it as strong as possible. Brush over the window while hot. "Hot Weather": Soak perspiration stains m a weak' solution of chloride of lime. Wash well afterwards, to remove all traces of the solution. "A.M.": Two gallons of boiling water, 2ozs. cream of tartar, 3ozs. ground ginger 2 lemons (cut into slices). Let the whole stand together until nearly cool; strain it, and add to the. liquor 31bs. brown sugar; then put m a little alcohol, a small quantity of oil of cloves and oil of : cinnamon. When about lukewarm, put m about % pint of yeast; m about 14 hours skim and filter it. If bottled, be careful to tie the corks on well.

Beef Steak and Tomato Pudding Ingredients. — %lb. Suet Pastry, lib. Steak, 2 Tomatoes, 1 Tablespoon Flour, Pepper and Salt, % Pint Water. LJethod. — Skin tomatoes and cut iyrto slices. Cut steak into pieces,, toss m flour, pepper and salt, line a greased pudding basin with pastry, place In the steaw and tomatoes m layers, add water, cover with pastry, and steam for 2 hours. Beef Steak and Mushroom Pudding Make as m preceding recipe, only use %lb. mushrooms instead of tomatoes. Preserved Rhubarb Cut rhubarb Into pieces about one inch m length and to lib. rhubarb add lib sugar. Put into a large bowl and allow to stand '24 hours. To 121bs. rhubarb add grated rind and ..juice of 6 lemons, 31bs. cooking figs, and 21bs. more sugar. Let the preserve boil for '1%, hours, taking care to remove all scum, so that the jam may be transparent.
