THAT HANKY
More Ornament Than Utility s
A handkerchief is not the article of utility it onco was, as anyone can tell who has examined the minute squares of real lace and chiffon that are marked at exorbitant prices m many a shop. LIANKIES of real lace and linen, or those of white lawn, marked m colored design and initials, are always a welcome addition to the wardrobe, but what of the fascinating big ones, squares of exotic colored silk and georgeite that are worn round the neck of clay or evening frock, or hangIng gaily from the patch pocket of a sports coat? They are the attractive ones, and they are the ones that everyone can make for themselves. Some of the gayest are made m contrasting colors, and futurist patterns, cut m diagonal and triangular shapes and sewn together with clubbed stitches and bright silks. And as to the wearing of them — the correct way now is not to knot them on the shoulder, but wear them like a sailor collar.
