Cricket Pack Under Reshuffle
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Wellington Rep.) A. month ago cricket fans would have laughed at the person picking Wellington to be beaten m the : capital city championship. TO-DAY Wellington's position is m jeopardy and .Old Boys, University, and Midland look good things to head off the leadei'S by the end of the week. Following on their defeat of the previous week Wellington made another | poor start against Midland. Early m the piece wickets began to fall, and Wellington never recovered. The whole side was out. for the miserable total of 129 and the only batsmen to make any headway against the bowling of Olympic boxer Alf. Cleverley were Airey and Jennings. . ■ When Midland took the wickets they took advantage of the wicket an d .punched the bowling round to the tune of 258 for. four wickets.' ; Baker! an.d Doneghue were, the chief soorers: and- they each collected sixty odd runs Jn free hitting style. A miracle alone will save Wellington. Old/Boys have a good thing on with Hutt with a lead of over a. hundred runs. . Herb. Lambert showed that his, slows can still trick theni by. gathering six Hutt wickets for ' 27 runs. With Foley out of the way Stew. ■• Dempster will have to do some quick thinking .if Institute is to overtake University's score of 248. When five wickets were down for 102 Varsity looked; a .bit shaky, but Leys saved the day with a. bright 56. With a lead' of "40 and with four wickets m hand Petone look to be home on the bit against Kilbirnie. -
