MIXED GRILL
I Veterans Still In Ritrinitig r v (From "N.Z. Truth's" Athletic Correa- './ pondent.") The field events at the Wellington provincial championships provided a very mixed grill, .with the evergreen E. Gu Sutherland taking the largest helping. LIB won the javelin throw and the ** pole vault, tied for second m the high jump, and filled third place m the discus throw. , ' - Dave Brown carried off the shot and discus, and:J. W. McHolm the hammer throwing. • The hop, step and jump and the long pump went to G. White, Hastings. The unlucky man of the day was that fine all-rounder, Ben. Rydbeck; who- collected no fewer than five second places and finished up with a badly torn .tendon that may keep him iout of the N.Z. championships. While tha\ performances generally ■were good, there was nothing really outstanding, and there will- be no fresh »ntries m the record book &$ a result.
