Made No Race of Big Event At Christcfiurch SHOULD WINFURTHER HONORS (By "The Toff"). With six furlongs to go Quality was m eighth, position m the Midsummer Handicap at Christchurch. She went on from there, and, finishing like a train, won by a length.

HpHE contest was for one thousand 1 sovereigns, and was restricted to horses that had done or been handicapped to do 4.30 or faster. Audacious made the pace for nearly two furlongs, where Talent hopped to the front. - He led past the first quarter disc m 37 2/5, with Audacious, Bonny Logan, Western King and Logan Park racing m that order. At the half-mile the watch l-ead 1.9, with Logan Park improving his position. Going out of the straight he took fourth position. At the mile Talent still was m charge, the distance having been covered m 2.17. He was being followed closely by Audacious, Bonny Logan, Logan Park, Western King, Logan Chief, Terence Dillon and Quality, with Cardinal' Logan last. . : At the thirteen furlongs disc Logan Park drew level with Talent, and Bonny Logan dropped alongside Audacious, with Quality, Western King and Terence Dillon just. behind them.

Talent was first m line for home, but broke fifty yards from the mile and seven furlongs post. This left Logan Park m front, with Bonny Logan issuing a serious challenge. Then Quality came like a stesfcmengine -on the outside of the track", and beat them pointless. Western King bored badly all the way, and hampered his chance considerably. Terence Dillon went a good- race. He was m sixth position with six furlongs to go, but failed to stay on when the pressure was applied m the straight. The winner, Quality, .is a speedy mare and a natural stayer. She is moody, however, and has to be nursed over the first part of a journey. She is a half-sister to Cardinal Logan and Bankhead, and is trained at Belfast by Cecil Donald, who drove her.
