GOOD PAIR
Trainer and Jockey Combine Well
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) Should the Williamson-Cammick combination appear m the next Rotorua Cup it will be rushed. ALL on account of the fact that the pair have figured successfully m the last two Cups m the geyser district. . . : - Last year it was Corinax which did the deed m Jack Williamson's ownership, and this term .it was The Loveiy trained by the Ellerslie mentor. Cammick was m the saddle on both occasions, and though his riding has not been faultless m many distance events up north, it can be said of him that he has done fairly well when associated with Williamson's charges. Last Saturday he was making ; his reappearance '< m the saddle after a spell through injury, and he certainly knew enough to get The Lover next the rails before the . final struggle. He also . displayed the- necessary vigor to let his mount understand that the best was expected of him. Queen Arch actually headed him off m the run home, and then a great battle ensued, which -finally ended m The Lover answering the call. In the mood, there is no doubt The Lover is some horse, but he is not always caught the right way, and threw no indication by his Takapuna efforts that he was entitled to the position of favorite. The Lover is a f ull,-brother to Papatu, and though no reliable punting proposition, his special forte seems to be kicking around the premises when there is some- trophy attached to the stake. • : : • ; :■ ' .■•" ■ •
