OCHOOL'S m again, and youths of all kJ makes, sizes and descriptions from the primary schools, setting out on a secondary career, have by how made acquaintance with the heads of Christchurch secondary schools, among whom is G. J. ("Stump") Lancaster, who controls the destinies of Christchurch Boys' High School. When m 1920 the late C. E. BevanBrbwn, beloved by, parents and pupils, resigned after a long and honorable | career as headmaster, the promotion of Lancaster, then first-assistant at the school, and himself an old boy, was accepted as a fitting choice, and a reward for a fine career. As a scholar Lancaster had a brilliant record, particularly m mathematics. Every master has to suffer some form of nickname, and it was due to his stature that Lancaster earned the appellation "Stump." His thick-set frame, however, contains an abundance of energy and driving force.
