LOOKS TO BE THE ONE
Hynanna May Win Taranaki Cup For Second Time
It was just a matter of not having the necessary condition that prevented Hynanna from winning his second Egmont Cup.
HIS rider has been blamed for going too soon, but twelve months back when the chestnut won the event similar riding tactics were adopted with success. . ■ This year Hynanna has not had the same amount of racing to fit him, but with last week's race into him he should prove equal to winning his second Taranaki Cup. v The race, run at New Plymouth to-day, has only nine runners, and m this number is a bracket-s-Ver-tigern and Talisker. "Winners over the' last fortnight m "Vertfeern', Bright Glow, Yoma, and Anolo are included, but betting will be kept within bounds. ? Hynanna must be the favorite, and what beats him will win. He. is now '. approaching the form that made his owner send him away to Australia m pursuit of a Caulfleld Cup. . • ; Vertigern has failed twice since win- . ning at Trentham,' and that will cause him to ease .m the market. .. ' Bright, Glow is better suited by two i furlongs less and only m receipt of a pound from loma does not make her chance read too bright.
Yoma is a plain everyday sort, but when right he can mix it with , the best. . --:.■'" :. He was full of running 1 when he won at Hawera last week, and he certainly must be respected. Talisker may not run, it being left to his stable-mate tq carry, on. The second day at Hawera/ Talisker- failed, but he was ridden m behind, and' to date he has done best out m front. Mendip just at present fails ,: to reach the class, and then again it is most likely ne relishes a mile and ;a quarter more. ' ' . ; '-. : Anolo scored at Pahiatua, but that is a different item to New Plymouth. A free goer,, he . may be m it . for a part of the way, but at the finish he should not be giving a great, deal of trouble. . A Home Made and Miss Mercia are m their right place — at the bottom of the handicap. Both are "hacks and hacks do not very often win cups. .'. , Summing-up the appear distinctly favorable for ' ' - , HYNANNJC V :.*' yoma. ' ~I
