FINE OLD MAN
Stewart Waddell Passes By No more will Stewart Waddell . walk across from his house, to the gates at Greenmeadows. THE old fellow has passed on and the *• worries and cares of horses and meetings are no longer his. Aged. eighty-two he was, till the last couple of months, more agile and alert than many ten and fifteen years younger. . Up and out at all hours and m all manner of weather he controlled his team till early m spring, when he was laid low. A fine old gentleman, he was held m the highest regard by all who knew him and by those to whom he was only a name. « Real horses by the dozen -were made by him, and some wonderful performers went through his hands., ■ To one and all, and Press writers m particular, he was ever ready to do his best, and ''N.Z. Truth" regularly once a year paid a call to his establishment. There everything was told; everything explained. The old fellow was never more pleased than when doing one a service. . '..*•..' He was one of the last of the old school and may he slumber on and enjoy the rest he so justly merits.
