AGAINST LUCK
Stable Is Doing No Good It is something for the Williams' stable to be out- of luck, but the fact remains it is at the present time. QNE of the most powerful* establishmerits m the land horses from that quarter were always kept on side, but outside a few races at minor meetings the team has been very much m the background. In all eight victories have gone to Jefferd this season — three each with Star God and Joy King and two with Knightlike. But all have been scored at the smalls, if it is m order to include Mar t o n and Hawera under this heading. _ Star Strangerhad to be thrown" out of work eaiiy m the spring and, with the two-year-olds not coming up to expectations, a we.ak team was left. Then an endeavor was made to bring Rapine back, more with the idea of his being able' to win a good one against the bad lot of handicap horses. The old fellow was just coming to his best and at Hawera, having his fifth race, he was unlucky enough to get galloped on. ; It may, or may not, be serious, but the stoppage is regrettable, all the same. However, Rapine is such a great winTded horse that he is sure to come later m the autumn.
