Man of The Green Fields
AMONG the sons of Adam was one named Allan, upon whom Adam conferred great athletic prowess, saying unto him, "Go thou forth and do mighty deeds. And wh'en tby day is done, seek thou thy place m council with others, and. choose the best of thy race that none may forget their deeds."
To the present generation Allan Adams is known as one of the "big six" when All Black selection councils meet. In Greymouth, on the West Coast, m the South Island, and among the New Zealand Rugby Union heads, A. A. Adams is recognized as one of the staunchest of supporters of the grand old game. / '■ ■ . v For many years he has presided over the West Coast Rugby Union,
and has rendered yeoman service m administration and active control.
Dunedin folk will recall Adams' sturdy frame on the football field about a score or more years ago, when as a young man studying at Otago Varsity; he'was recognized as one of the finest centre threequarters m the province. In addition, Allan, until recent years, was a cricketer of repute, a wristy batsman.
The attraction that the green fields have for him is shown m that Allan is now studying the noble art of bowls. As he may be ranked m this sport as a comparatively young man, he may equal his football fame, and perhaps trail the kitty to success m Dominion tournaments...
