Jottings About Town
An Organizer Cosmopolitan and international Is Mrs. Den ton. Leech, of Dunedin, who, as delegate' to' the "Women's Conference m Honolulu last year, considered that the most interesting speaker there was a Japanese lady doctor. DBRHAPS the most interesting feminist fact was the revelation that there are at present some fifteen thousand women medical students m the Flowery Land. . She has much other information to give, and does so at various organizations m her home city, where she is often President or Secretary. The Mothers' Union, the National Council of Women, the perhaps-to-be resuscitated Womens' Citizens' League are among the' activities m which she takes part, but it is as the Dpminion'a Secretary for the League of Nations 1 Union that she is best known. Many will recall her at the " League of Nations' Stall m the Dunedin Exhibition last year, when hesitants were led to', join the League through her tact and readiness to serve. One feature with which she was concerned was an exhibit of school .children's posters, m which, through pictorial form, the young people gave their idea of Peace. ' Mrs. Leech was ever ready to praise and encourage the entrants. A real worker as well as a good speaker on the platform is this lady. She types all the work m connection with the League *of ' Nations' Union. She is a great organizer, and members of her own sex will be glad to learn that she can trim a hat as well as make a speech. Both arts, call for similar qualities, patience, good taste,- and industry.
