Tennis Changes In Order (From "N.Z. Truth's" Tennis Corres- . pondent.) Revolutionary changes will be the order at the next quarterly meeting of the N.Z. Lawn Tennis Council if certain motions are carried. UP to the present, indications point to the fact that the changes will be made. The Wanganui Association is sponsoring a motion to the effect that the national championships should commence not earlier, than mid- January m each year instead on Boxing Day as at present. . This reform is urgently needed, as our leading players, owing to the late opening of the grass courts, are unable to strike top form so early m the season. Poverty Bay has every hope of securing the adoption of a national junior .scheme, evolved by a veteran worker amongst the .youngsters. This scheme, which has been circulated privately amongst the twenty affiliated associations, has already been the subject of much favorable comment. . It aims at the holding of separate national ' junior championships m Wellington every two years, the expenses to be shared amongst the competitors; affiliated associations, and the national council, and involves a maximum, expenditure by each party of one pound per Jiead per competitor per annum. - -■■•■.• Under the scheme each, association is entitled. .■• to.' nominate a. quota of boys and girls' proportionate to its voting strength on. the national council. Altogether, if the scheme is. put into operation, it ■will provide a great gathering, a wonderful stimulus to junior tennis all over the country, and ah educational . treat for those who gain the honor of representing .their, association. •
